Travel in Can Picafort
By Road
Access to Ca’n Picafort is good. It lies on the main Carretera Alcúdia-Artà that runs close to the north-eastern coastline - carretera meaning highway.
Most of the resort is situated on the beach side of this road, but some is on the other side. The motorway extension from Palma as far as the Sa Pobla-Pollensa roundabout and the widened road from there to Alcúdia has cut travel time markedly. This forms the best route to and from Palma.
Coming towards Alcúdia there are two roundabouts, the first has a garden centre off to the left. You continue to the next roundabout, go straight on and then bear right onto a by-pass which is signed Ca’n Picafort and Artà. At the end of this by-pass is another roundabout. Take the left exit and you come to some traffic lights on the Carretera Alcúdia-Artà where Puerto Alcúdia meets Playa de Muro. Opposite you will see a restaurant called “Las Delicias”.
Turn right here and take the carretera for some 6 kilometres. This will lead you into Ca’n Picafort. The distance from Palma to Can Picafort seems to vary according to what you read. The town hall says 54 kilometres; it’s more like 60, but that’s not a huge variance. With the new road and a clear run, the time to the airport is now about 45 minutes.
Locally, the centre of Puerto Alcúdia is 10 kilometres, the town of Alcúdia a bit more. Playa de Muro, in the sense of where it starts, forming the boundary with Puerto Alcúdia, is 6 kilometres, though in fact it is no distance as the municipalities of Muro and Santa Margalida meet at the first roundabout coming into Can Picafort.

Bus
Buses go to Playa de Muro, Puerto Alcúdia, Alcúdia and Puerto Pollensa as well as to Inca and Palma. We don’t reproduce the times here as there are several lines and adherence to the times - in summer - can be a bit haphazard.
As an indication, however, one bus (Autocares Mallorca Line 1) which goes onto to Palma runs more or less every hour (a reduced service on Sundays). Line 2 which heads off to Puerto Pollensa (but only a few of them) runs every 15 minutes to Puerto Alcúdia and Alcúdia via Playa de Muro.
